Inspired by your words …

As we count down to another new year we wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has got involved with The Secret Illness in 2015, the year we kicked it off. There have been some powerful, brave and heart-breaking wall posts submitted this year that have been a great help to others navigating the stormy waters of OCD, and enlightening to many who just did not know what OCD really was.

In 2016 we plan to produce our first pieces of co-created video content. We’ve selected three of the poems that have been sent to us as a start point. One is called The Breach, and is the reason we’ve chosen a ball of wool as the picture accompanying this blog: we’re experimenting with stop-frame animation and a ball of wool is our main character! We’re trying out hand-drawn character animation as our film technique for a poem entitled “This Old Ghost” and finally we’ve plans to do some artsy live-action filming for the third poem “The Switch”.

These films are all experimental and will undoubtedly change their shape and form as we go on our creative journey with them. Wherever that journey may take us, they are all inspired by words written by people living with OCD and we’re open-minded to see where those words will take us as we develop them into films.

Wishing everyone safe and happy holidays and we hope you’ll join us for a creative and inspiring 2016.
